Conductor's room

Sydney Tshepo Masetlhe Sydney comes from a small village called Ramatlabama, some 20 kilometres outside Mafikeng, the capital of the North West Province. He started singing and playing a trumpet at a tender age of 14. He joined the North-West University Choir as a chorister in 2004 under the directorship of Mr Bafana Kunene who offered him a support and training as a singer. In 2004 to 2006, Sydney attended the National Youth Choir Course and was subsequently selected to sing for the National Youth Choir. In 2005 he toured Germany with the North West University as a deputy conductor of the choir. He has also gained incredible conducting experience with the assistance and mentorship offer by an accomplished conductor, music teacher and facilitator Michael Dingaan. Sydney has conducted numerous workshops for schools and churches as well as adjudicated in these two sectors Sydney has composed a number of choral music songs and has arranged a lot of traditional music. He started conducting the NWU choir in 2007.

BAFANA KUNENE

Bafana is from a township called Kwa Thema in Gauteng Province (South Africa).

He started conducting NWU Choir in 2004 and have achieved a lot with this choir. In 2005 he led the Choir at the 5th International Festival of Sacred Music in Germany. He won the Regional NCF competitions and obtained Overall second position at the National finals of the same competition.

Bafana have trained a lot of choristers including the current conductor (Sydney Masetlhe).

In 2006 He again led the choir to the National Final Of Old Mutual/Telkom competitions by winning the regional elliminations with flying colous.

He is the firrst conductor to ever win the Old mutual Telkom eisstedfod since the establishment of the choir.

Mr Kunene is currently a conductor Of S.T Handrey's Anglican Church choir, an adjudicator and a choir trainer.

DUMILE LETSHOO

Mr Letshoo is coming from a township called Itsoseng in the North West Province (South Africa). He joined the NWU Choir in 2003 as a chorister and was at the same year the conductor of the ELCSA male choir with which he won a number of competitions.

In 2004 he worked as a deputy condutor of the NWU choir and he played a major role in voice training for choiristers.In 2005 he was still a deputy conductor of the group which toured Germany.

Dumile have conducted a number of workshops to school, church and community choirs.  

He is currently a conductor of Lutheran Church choir, a choir trainer and an adjudicator
