ABOUT THE CHOIR

Choir profile: North-West University Choir was established in 1982 with the aim of participating in all University arts and culture events.  The Choir boasts a membership whose ages range from 17 – 30 and is representative of all five faculties on campus.  Since its establishment, it has participated in various choral festivals, concerts and competitions in the Republic of South Africa and internationally.  2005·        Took part in the 4th International Festival of Sacred Music held in Rottenburg - Germany. ·        Obtained first position in the regional Old Mutual/Telkom Festival as well as emerged overall second position at the national finals of the Old Mutual/Telkom Festival.  2006 ·        Performed the Mozart’s Requiem with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra at the Mmabatho Convention Centre ·        Obtained the first position at the regional Old Mutual/Telkom Festival and obtained the first position in the category Indegenous Music at the national finals of the same competition. 2007·        Obtained the first position at the provincial South African Choral Music Association Eisteddfod (SACMA). ·        Crowned the provincial champions of the Old Mutual/Telkom Choir Festival.
